Biography
Hannah Murray was born in Bristol, on July 1 1989. She is best known for playing Cassie Ainsworth in the E4 teen drama Skins, from its first cycle in 2007-2008.
After learning that auditions for a new teen drama were taking place through her local youth theatre, Murray audition purely for the sake of experience, and went on to play the role of kind-hearted Cassie, the spacey-teenager with self-destructive tendancies. Hannah only played Cassie for two seasons, as after their two years in college, the original cast were replaced with a new group of sixth-formers.
After Skins, Hannah went to the West End, where she made her stage debut in May 2008 in That Face, a critically-acclaimed drama by Polly Stenham. Hannah also filmed a small role for the black comedy In Bruges, but it was cut from the final version of the film.
In 2009, Hannah started reading English at Queen’s College, Cambridge. She also appeared in the ITV adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?, and filmed Womb alongside The Face co-star Matt Smith and Eva Green which will be released in 2010. Towards the end of 2009 Hannah also filmed an adaptation of Enda Walsh’s Chatroom, directed by Hideo Nakata and co-starring Aaron Johnson.
In early January 2010, Hannah appeared in Above Suspicion: the Red Dahlia, an adaptation of the Linda La Plante novel.
